Telehealth makes it easier to fit therapy into your life routine, whether you live in Hobart, Battery Point, regional Tasmania, or anywhere in Australia. Telehealth therapy makes accessing support simple and convenient. You can connect with the Chrysalis team from the comfort and privacy of your own home, without the need to travel.
It is the end of a long day. The thought of getting in the car, finding parking near the city, and sitting in another waiting room is the thing that has stopped you from booking therapy for months. Online psychology removes that barrier. You can speak with a registered psychologist from your living room, your office at lunch, or a quiet space at home, anywhere in Australia.
It is especially helpful for people with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or those living further away from specialist services. With flexible and reliable online sessions, you can receive timely support wherever you are.
Sessions are delivered securely online, ensuring confidentiality and providing the same high-quality care you would receive in person.
Therapy that fits inside your week, not around it. Telehealth psychology removes the friction of travel time, school pick-ups, parking costs, and time off work. For people living in Hobart, regional Tasmania, on the West Coast, in the Huon Valley, or anywhere outside metropolitan Australia, it removes the question of whether the right psychologist is geographically reachable at all.
Research published in the Journal of Anxiety Disorders and reviewed by the Australian Psychological Society indicates that video conference-delivered therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person sessions for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
A 2022 meta-analysis of 56 randomised controlled trials found no significant difference in symptom reduction between online and face-to-face cognitive behavioural therapy. The same clinical standards, confidentiality protections, and treatment approaches you would receive at our Battery Point rooms apply online.

Telehealth therapy is a strong fit for:
Telehealth is not the right fit for every situation. People in acute crisis, those needing in-person assessment for ADHD or autism, or those in safety-sensitive circumstances are better served face-to-face. Our team will discuss the most appropriate format with you at intake.

We offer a range of evidence-based mental health services to help you and your family thrive.
Anxiety responds well to evidence-based online therapy. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and exposure-based interventions translate effectively to the video format. Approximately 17 per cent of Australians experience an anxiety disorder in any given year (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2023), and waiting lists for in-person psychology in Hobart and regional Tasmania can run six months or longer. Telehealth significantly shortens that wait. Sessions focus on identifying the patterns of thinking and behaving that maintain anxiety, building practical regulation strategies, and reconnecting you with what matters when stress has crowded it out.
Trauma-focused therapy can be delivered safely and effectively via telehealth. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-focused CBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) approaches are all available online. Clinical research from the Phoenix Australia Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health supports videoconference-delivered EMDR as a viable alternative to face-to-face sessions, particularly for people for whom travel itself is part of the trauma response. All trauma work is paced collaboratively. We do not begin processing work until you feel grounded in your environment and have the regulation skills to manage between-session distress.
For neurodivergent adults and families, telehealth often reduces the sensory and social demands of attending a clinic. We offer ongoing therapy for adults with ADHD or autism, parent guidance for families with neurodivergent children, and identity-affirming work for late-diagnosed adults processing the meaning of a new diagnosis. NDIS-funded therapy (self-managed and plan-managed) is available via telehealth. Note: while ongoing therapy works well online, formal ADHD and autism assessments at Chrysalis include in-person components. Telehealth-only assessment is not currently offered.
Online couples therapy works well when both partners have a private, uninterrupted space to attend sessions together. We support couples through communication breakdowns, repeated arguments, life transitions, blended family stress, and rebuilding after rupture. Our approach draws on Gottman Method principles, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and schema-informed couples work.
For more information on this service, see our dedicated couples therapy page.
Telehealth sessions can be booked online, by calling or emailing our reception team. You will receive a secure video link by email before your appointment. Sessions run for 50 minutes for individual and couples therapy. The first session is a clinical intake where your psychologist gathers history, discusses what brought you to therapy, and works with you to outline a treatment direction. From session two onwards, the work is fitted to your goals.
All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera. Headphones are recommended for confidentiality.
